Wo rshipping God, sharing the good news of Christ’s love and partaking of the sacraments is the heart of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. There are two services on Sunday with holy communion: one at 8:30 am and one at 11 a.m. A nursery is provided for infants, toddlers and children up to five years during worship services and special programs. In addition to the two Sunday services , there also is a mid-week communion service (Wednesday 12:10 pm) that lasts 35 minutes. Lunch is also served for a nominal fee. During Lent, this service is highlighted by visiting pastors and priests from the many denominations of other downtown churches. Worship also provides ways to serve God in His church. If you’ve been wanting to serve, opportunities to help include: Lay/CommPicture12union Assistants — help lead worship by reading scriptures, offering prayers and petitions and assisting with communion at all worship services. Schedule Ushers — who assist members and guests at worship by providing bulletins, escorting to pews when necessary, offering directions and collecting offering. Contact: Carolyn Gary, 706-724-8792, ext. 202, Schedule Sound System Volunteers — who record Sunday worship services on CDs for shut-ins and others in the congregation who may be interested. Financial Secretaries — Members who rotate responsibility for counting and recording monies collected during Sunday School, worship services, for love offerings, memorials, etc. Contact: Carolyn Gary, 706-724-8792, ext. 202, Worship Planning — A committee that oversees the planning for and organization of all worship services. Special Worship Services During the year, there areFrank Chandler lights workshipers candle several special worship services to which many people look forward. Some of these are: Joint Reformation Service on Reformation Sunday evening each October. As a celebration of the “birthday” of the Lutheran Church and the Protestant movement. All area Lutheran churches participate in this service. Music Sunday is an entire service of worship that celebrates God through music. Singers, ringers and instrumentalists provide an upbeat, joyful service. Youth Sunday another upbeat service that is planned, organized and delivered by our young people. Sometimes there are skits, sometimes heartfelt professions of faith, always an enjoyable experience. The young people also collect money for the hungry and homeless during “Souper Bowl Sunday.”  Family OhHolyNightWideChristmas Program a much-anticipated service by both parents and children! The evening starts with a covered dish supper and ends with the Children’s Christmas Program.  There are two Christmas Eve Services:  the Family Service at 5:00PM and a Traditional Service that begins with special music at 10:00PM followed by Communion and candle lighting. Wednesday Night Lenten Worship is a thematic series of services which start on Ash Wednesday and continue through Lent. Holy Week beginning with Palm Sunday and continues with worship services at noon and in the evening on Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. EasterCHildren040812
