The Cast of “The Evening News” after their performance

The Children and Youth of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection presented their annual Christmas Program on Sunday, December 18th, 2016. The evening opened with special music presented by the Genesis and Luther Choir, the Youth Choir, Luther Bells, Resurrection Youth Ringers and the Resurrection Ringers.

It was followed by the Lighting of the Advent Wreath with a series of readings and singing as each candle was lit. After a scripture reading from Luke 1:26-38, in which the angel Gabriel come to Mary to tell her that she will bear a son named Jesus, the youth presented “The Evening News” a contemporary story of Jesus’s birth as told through a television news cast. The newscasters sought out locals to find out about how crowded Bethlehem was because of the census and how one innkeeper provided space in the stables for a young couple having a baby.

The cast, numbering around 25 included some adults who played many of the townspeople. With Joy to the World the evening’s program was complete.

Cyndi and Sandra would like thank the congregation for all their love and support. A special thanks to the cast, the many volunteers, and parents who helped make this year’s program a success.
