WITHIN THE PARRISH
PASTORAL CARE is available to anyone experiencing life difficulties. Contact the office to set up an appointment with the Pastor Hunter, (706) 724-8792 or for emergencies call the pastor directly (706) 495-5565.
SHUT-IN VISITATION is provided by members and clergy for those who are unable to attend Sunday services. Following the late service on Sundays, the flowers in the church are distributed to shut-ins, as well.
The Witness Committee’s COOKIE BRIGADE delivers cookies to first-time visitors.
BEREAVEMENT MEALS are prepared and delivered or served at the church by church members for those who have experienced a death in the family. BEREAVEMENT CARDS are sent to members who have lost a loved one at the time of death and on the one year anniversary of the death.
CARENOTES are tracts of helpful information available to assist people during difficult life experiences.
The PRAYER CHAIN is made up of member volunteers who pray for the special needs of members and friends, as requested.
WITNESS COMMITTEE volunteers check visitor cards and the “Get Acquainted” pads on Sunday mornings. First -time visitors receive cookies and greetings from the COOKIE BRIGADE and welcome notes in the mail.
The BRINSON FUND maintains the sanctuary lamp in the sanctuary; the SIMON FUND provides scholarships for first year confirmands going to ConfirCamp at Lutheridge.
IN THE COMMUNITY AND BEYOND
We are members of the DOWNTOWN COOPERATIVE CHURCH MINISTRIES and support the GOLDEN HARVEST FOOD BANK.
At the MASTER’S TABLE, we join with other churches in the area to feed the hungry and homeless. Volunteers from Resurrection work on the 1st and 4th Mondays of each month. Meal preparation begins at 9:00AM, and meals are served from 11:00AM until 12:30PM.
We support the efforts of ACTION MIINISTRIES with an Angel Tree, a Mitten Tree, and food boxes that are prepared and donated by members.
At our CHRISTMAS IN JULY program, members donate school supplies to Hornsby Elementary School.
WEE CARE is a ministry that furnishes gowns , caps, and blankets to local parents of stillborn infants or infants who die shortly after birth for funeral clothing.
The earnings from our INVESTMENT FUND are distributed annually, with one third each going to a local charity, a need outside of our local community, and one third being returned to the principal.
Members of the RESURRECTION WOMEN OF THE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN AMERICA sew quilts and collect health kits and school kits that are distributed by Lutheran World Relief.
The PASTOR’S DISCRETIONARY FUND is used by the pastor to assist those in need; the BOLIEK SCHOLARSHIP, established in honor of Pastor Paulwyn Boliek, provides financial assistance for seminary students.
Our SYNOD BENEVOLENCE provides monetary support to the Southeastern Synod in its efforts to spread God’s Word.
Through our ELCA BENEVOLENCE, we support the missions and ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We also provide financial and material support to Lutheran World Relief and to overseas missionaries.
