A short note, dear friends,

….. to say, it’s lime to move forward on faith. And we have some moving to do. The Church Council
appointed Kelly Knitter and John Leibach as Building Committee co-chairs. The rest of the committee is forming up.

At the moment, Request For Bid proposals have been sent to local architects. Once we have an architect in place, the process will begin. The Building Committee (which is only responsible for the design and construction of New Reiser Hall) will keep the congregation informed on a regular and timely basis.

In addition to New Reiser Hall, the incoming council will be appointing a task force to oversee the logistical and operational challenge during the actual building construction. And we also have a Habitat House to build for a family in our community. So we will need someone(s) to oversee that ministry as well.

My sense is that we will meet with the local Habitat for Humanity folks toward the end of August or early September. After that, our ‘habitat adventure’ should be clearer.

As I write this, we have two groups who departed after worship Sunday on their adventures. Seven young people and four adults hit the road in the Resurrection Bus for the ELCA National Youth Gathering in Houston, TX. Exciting times surely await them as they gather with many thousands of young Lutherans and their adult leaders. And this week is also Confirmation Camp at Lutheridge. There, in the mountains of North Carolina, we will study Luke’s story of Jesus, our Savior, experience Christian community and grow in our understanding of God’s grace.

And Saturday I attended a wonderful “pig pickin” at Dennis and Terri Sodomka’s lake house. We had a great group and lots of delicious food and a good time was had by all.

Sunday at worship, we bid farewell and Godspeed to Edgar Pund. Edgar has literally spent his life at Resurrection and now he will move to Beaufort so that his daughter, Fran Tuttle, will be better able to care for him. Our prayers and best wishes go with Edgar.

And July is the month in which we celebrate our Heritage – our heritage as Christians and our heritage as Americans. We will do that on Sunday, July 1. (Incidentally, July 1 is Dominion Day in Canada – the Canadian “Fourth of July”)

Please keep us in your prayers and remember that I love you,

Your pastor and friend,

David B. Hunter

Forward on Faith

For all those contributing to “Forward on Faith”…
Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to our capital stewardship campaign, Forward on Faith. The response has been amazing for all of us.

As you begin to give, please be sure to mark your checks either for the operating fund or Forward on Faith. If you write just one check, simply put the amounts for each on the memo line. You may also use the Building Fund envelope for Forward on Faith, but please mark it as such.

Again, thanks or your generosity and for helping me record your contributions correctly.

God Bless, Carolyn
