Forward on Faith Capital Campaign

Welcome to Forward On Faith, God’s newest summons to the saints at Resurrection Church.

We know that in this church and its people we have the capacity to do anything that we want to do. Few churches are in as strong a position as we are both financially and spiritually and we have much to
be thankful for.

Forward On Faith is the process of connecting our willingness and faith to our growing need for capacity in Reiser Hall. Through Forward On Faith we will raise the money to accomplish this task. To joyfully celebrate the gifts that God has blessed our church, we will also be building a Habitat for Humanity home so a family in our community can experience God’s free and unconditional grace.

The project breakout:

  • $1,200,000 New Reiser Hall
  • 100,000 Habitat for Humanity House materials
  • $1,300,000 Total Cost of campaign projects
  • -300,000 Extraordinary lead gift
  • $1,000,000 Campaign Costs left for us to raise.

One day, in the future, as people gather to share their faith and their lives in Reiser Hall, the record will show that God raised up a people in this place who stood with joy on the foundation of faith that
others had laid and reached for greatness for God by moving Forward On Faith!

Case Statement for our capital campaign to renovate Reiser Hall

Our Heritage

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

We are here because God began a good work among us in 1855. It is beyond question that we stand in a great tradition. For 162 years others have “labored and we have entered into their labors.” We have, in our history been summoned to build essential things for God’s ministry: three churches, a parsonage, an educational building, several renovations including a major renovation of all facilities in 1997. Now we are again summoned by God to build… to keep our legacy of service and ministry to downtown Augusta and our community, and to keep our church strong for mission well into the 21 Century.

Buildings are important, but what makes Resurrection wonderful is our people. We are a people who are clear about our faith in Jesus Christ and who have a love and concern for others. Our mission is as it has always been – make disciples; inviting people to an encounter with Jesus Christ, and to live our lives based on the Gospel. The very best way to do that is person to person; church members, sharing their lives with others, inviting people to our church.

The Time is Now to Rebuild Reiser Hall

As we look to the future, the growth of the downtown area and the expansion of our staff will certainly add new members and new ministries. In order to accommodate this growth a renovation and expansion of Reiser Hall will be necessary.

A Task Force was formed in 2016 to look at this project. It has been over 20 years since any updates have been made to Reiser Hall and it is to the point where we can either spend money to repair the facility or spend the money to set us up for the future.

The existing structure of Reiser Hall limits our ability to expand the existing facility, so we are proposing to build a new Reiser Hall. The building façade will be designed in keeping with the rest of the church to present a unified aesthetic and enhance the beauty of our facility. Similar materials and detailing will be used so that Reiser Hall looks like it has always been there. The kitchen although adequately sized does not function as well as it could to serve our congregation. The new facility, costing an estimated $1,200,000.00, will include approximately 3500 square feet of reception hall space, 1500 more square feet than the current facility which can accommodate approximately 100 more people. The proposal includes a covered drop-off and an improved parking area, additional lighting will provide more safety for our members.

The facility will also include new men’s and women’s restrooms, providing a convenience for our members and guests. The space will be designed with flexibility in mind so that it will be able to serve a variety of new ministries in the future. The new facility will serve as a beautiful wedding reception hall and also have the technology to host professional meetings. With the growth and business that is coming to Downtown Augusta having a flexible facility with parking is an extremely valuable resource for our church.

This is the right time. You can sense and see the enthusiasm building across our congregation. We have an excellent plan to equip our church with strength to meet the ministry needs of present and future generations.

Forward On Faith

Welcome to Forward On Faith, God’s newest summons to the saints at Resurrection Church. We have come to a seminal moment. The stakes are very high. We seek to raise $1,300,000.00. We have a generous gift that is earmarked for the project, so we must raise $1,000,000.00 in pledges over a three year period. That amount includes building a Habitat for Humanity House and further increasing the size of Reiser Hall. As we have in the past, the great heart of this church and its people will respond to the mission and challenge before us.

We know that in this church and its people we have the capacity to do anything that we want to do. Few churches are in as strong a position as we are both financially and spiritually. We have much to be thankful for. Forward On Faith is the process of connecting our willingness and faith to our capacity. Through Forward On Faith we will raise the money to accomplish this task. And we will celebrate by building a Habitat for Humanity home so a family in our community can experience God’s free and unconditional grace.

When you reduce this letter to its essence, we are doing what we are doing for our children, our grandchildren, our young people and families, and people of this community we have yet to meet. God has called us to this mission and this place. As we look forward in faith to continuing to pass on our shared faith and mission by serving the community around us, we invite you to spend the coming month praying, “Dear Lord, what would you do through me to accomplish your vision for our church? Help me discern a sacrifice for Forward On Faith that is meaningful and joyful.”

One day, in the future, as people gather to share their faith and their lives in Reiser Hall, the record will show that God raised up a people in this place who stood with joy on the foundation of faith that others had laid and reached for greatness for God by moving Forward On Faith!
