A short note, dear friends,

… to say, Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
….thank you to everyone who worked and served so faithfully to make possible our wonderful Holy Week and Easter Worship Services. Easter is always a marvelous celebration in our church. We are truly blessed with wonderful, faithful people who do enjoy worshiping and serving our Lord. It is a joy to be your Pastor. Thank you.
….this month we will celebrate Music Sunday on May 3rd. We have an excellent and outstanding music ministry here at Resurrection which truly enhances our worship and, as Bach insisted, gives glory to God (Soli Deo Gloria). We will have one worship service that day and the power of all of us worshiping together is simply inspiring. Thank God for the music.
And on Pentecost, May 24th, we will celebrate the Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) for Julie Leopard, Nora Rauscher, Sara Ellen Strickland, Clark Oetting and Andrew Rauscher. This is an important moment in their lives and for their families as they publicly declare their Christian faith. Their example gives us an opportunity and encouragement to renew our personal commitment to Jesus Christ as well. Congratulations to these young people.
Pentecost is the celebration of the birth of the Christian church. It celebrates the coming of God’s Holy Spirit into the lives of Jesus’ first disciples and each and every one of His subsequent disciples – you and me.
In John’s gospel, he reports that He breathed on the disciples and said, “receive the Holy Spirit.” That is the quiet side of Pentecost (Luke gives us a more spectacular report in Acts.)
I like the image of “breath”, pneuma in Greek, because God’s Holy Spirit is like our breath. The Holy Spirit , God intimately writing (according to Jeremiah), living in our hearts and lives. We may not often be aware of it, but without the Holy Spirit we cannot live a spiritual life. It is the Holy Spirit who helps us to pray as we ought, who gives us the gifts of faith, love, forgiveness, kindness, goodness, gentleness, peace, and joy. It is the Holy Spirit who gives us the life that death cannot destroy. May we always pray, “Come, Holy Spirit, Come.”
Please keep us in your prayers and remember that I love you,

LEND A HELPING HAND & VOLUNTEER!

Faith Formation and Religious Education needs YOUR HELP!! All of our educational programs are dependent on volunteers! And it takes a great number of volunteers to teach our children, youth, and teens!!
For Summer Sunday School, we need one adult and one teen volunteer each Sunday to supervise children ages 3 – 6th grade. They will make choices of films to watch or activities and games to enjoy!
For Fall Sunday School, we want to divide our KIDZ KLASS into two classes: one for younger children and one for older children. We also need teachers for our teen class.
Because we want everyone to be able to participate in their own Sunday School Classes, we try to schedule each teacher for a short sequence of weeks and then another volunteer takes over.
Sign up on the Bulletin Board outside of the FFRE office TODAY and Do Something SPECIAL for Someone SPECIAL (our KIDS)!
Teach for JESUS! HE needs you!

WELCA NEWS

On April 18, 2015, a rainy Saturday morning, 6 ladies left the Resurrection parking lot bound for a cluster meeting at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Rincon, GA. It poured down rain the entire 2 hour ride. Soon after arriving at the Ebenezer Center, the sun came out. The meeting was informative, the fellowship was good, and the food was great, but we missed YOU!
On April 25, 2015, was another rainy Saturday morning, but 25 Resurrection women showed up for the Annual Spring Luncheon. We enjoyed all of the wonderful food and desserts, fellowship, and lots of door prizes. Rebecca Fox, Dietetic Intern from Augusta State gave an interesting program on Protein and Calcium. She gave us lots of information on when it is best to get your protein and what foods to get it from and which ones you shouldn’t get it from. Everyone was able to take home a recipe that Rebecca made up with oats that was to sit overnight, along with the recipe itself. Thank you to all who attended, we had a wonderful time. The only thing that was missing was YOU!
