A short note, dear friends,
… to say a special “thank you” to our young people and our staff and volunteers who helped and prepared them to bless us with a wonderful Youth Sunday worship. We have very fine young people in this church and they have excellent and dedicated leadership. Thank you .

… our favorite “Lutheran” season of the church year, Lent, begins on Ash Wednesday (following the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper) which is this week. Hopefully, you have received your personal Lenten Fasting and Devotional Guide. As you know, whenever the Bible speaks of fasting (which it does often in both Testaments) it is always accompanied by prayer- a spirtitual discipline, because, for scripture, fasting is a spiritual discipline.

This year, part of our congregation’s Lenten experience is a 40 Day Fast of some of those distractions which divert our attention from God and from deeper relationships with His people.
We will be fasting from very diverse things: certain foods (on Mondays); television, movies, etc. (Tuesdays); computers and related similar items: video games, internet, social media, etc. unless necessary for work/school (Wednesdays); Coffee, soda, sports drinks, alcohol, etc. (Thursdays); critisism, negative attitude and comments (Friday); practice silence and solitude (fasting from unnecessary external noise) (Saturday ); enjoy worship and rest (Sundays).

Your guide provides opportunity for you to reflect and record your experience so you can then review them at the end of Lent. I encourage you to participate and to share your experience after Easter. On Wednesdays noon and evening, we will have our traditional Lenten Worship. This year our sermon series will be:

    Great Encounters With Christ

  • 3/8 Temptation and God’s Faithfulness
  • 3/15 A Stone’s Throw
  • 3/22 Looking to Jesus for Easy Answers
  • 3/29 Come Down, Come In, Come Clean
  • 4/5 Come to Your Senses

And, of course we will have our traditional Passion Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Worship services. We will be busy, indeed.

And just in case that’s not enough, we will begin a new Sunday School class for younger adults (that is adults who are a good bit younger than me). Bill and Christine Rauscher and Vu Nguyen will shepherd the development of this new and much needed class. You will meet upstairs in the education building in the room formerly known as the bell room. This is an exciting and promising new ministry. I want to encourage each of you who do not presently have a Sunday School class to “come and see!” I’m certain you will be blessed.

Lastly, I want to mention that Kathie, Bryan and I had a wonderful vacation in Utah this past month and, even more wonderful, Paulwyn Boliek, Frank Chandler and Dennis Sodomka were and are able to step in and lead worship when I’m away.

Again, just like our young people this morning, another example of the many ways our congregation is so blessed.
Please keep us in your prayer and remember that I love you.

Pastor David Hunter

Thought of the Month

I propose, we add a new day to the week and call it, “SOMEDAY!” Just think of all the awesome stuff that would happen on that day!!

Daylight Savings Time!

Daylight Savings Time begins March 12th. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead Saturday night so you don’t arrive late Sunday.

Easter Egg Hunt

It’s set for Saturday, April 15th. Stay tuned for location and time.
